A Day at Gumasa Beach

A Day at Gumasa Beach

Last September 21st, Jethro and I celebrated our 32nd month of being a couple. I know, I know, it's irrelevant and a cliche. We don't normally celebrate things like these, but we made an exception this time because, for the first time since we were both employed, we are together on a 21st.

As I have said on my Life Lately post, this trip was a spontaneous one. I filed my leave on the 18th and thought about having to relax in a beach somewhere. I searched for the best resort to stay in Gumasa and as I was browsing through TripAdvisor, Isla Jardin Del Mar was ranked as the number 1 B&B. I was going to book a reservation but before I did that, I texted a friend who was at GenSan that moment and asked her about Gumasa. She told me that Rosal Beach Resort has a more beautiful beach front than Isla Jardin so I decided to trust her judgement and went to this resort instead. She had not disappointed us.

The resort had a stunning beach front and their area stretched as far and wide as the eye can see. The place had solitude and there were only a few people staying. Traveling off-season is a really good thing because you can have the place all to yourself. After we checked in, we rested for a while. Traveling for 4 hours had drained us and so we took a nappy. We went on exploring in the afternoon after we rested.

We had a beautiful view of the sunset and ended our walk by having a swim. Their beach was sandy and there were no rocks which I like. We slept comfortably that night and I was awake pretty early because I was hoping to stroll along the shore before the sun comes out. The beach at 6 AM was pretty, the waves were calm and the tide was slowly rising.

We walked the opposite way we went the day before and just talked about the most random things - about where we're going next, on what we're gonna do in GenSan later, on where we're staying, on where we're eating - the most random, really. When the sun was at its peak, I wasn't expecting to see this.

The pastel-colored beach had transformed into a stunning view of vibrant shades of blue. I was mesmerized by its beauty and just took dozens of pictures. I wanted to capture its beauty, on how the different shades of blue combined into one perfect scenery of peace and tranquility. I didn't want to leave, I just wanted to stay and stare at the beach.

We enjoyed the water until it was too hot to swim. I resolved to sitting afterwards just above some rocks and marveled at the sight.

It was saddening to leave but I promised to go back to this place again. Maybe stay in a different resort to have a different experience. But overall, this beach trip was wonderful and very worth it. I spent half of my salary but I didn't mind and I will gladly do it again.

I have always been a beach person and having to see this kind of beauty replenished my wanderlust-ing soul. Until my next trip, I hope it comes soon!
