Percy Jackson: The Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson: The Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan

Synopsis from
Goodreads:
Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse - Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half-Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena - Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
If you don't know yet, I have been obsessed with Greek Mythology that I've even enrolled in a course in Coursera as I've said in my previous life lately update. Well, my friends, I've been feeding my obsession for weeks and when THE Rick Riordan announced that the Percy Jackson book series is going to be adapted into a TV series in Disney+, the Half-Blood community was overjoyed! One of my reading buddies who's very much active in the bookstagram community organized a #Percydathon (a PJO readathon) this coming June and I instantly joined, because why the heck not??!

I am sooooo excited to reread the whole series. I finished the whole thing roughly 7 years ago. I looked for my Tumblr post about it and I found it here.

So uhm, I was so excited to start the books that I couldn't wait any longer for June so I started The Lightning Thief. ✌ I finished it last night and I just felt nostalgic. Even if I have already read it years ago, the experience I had rereading it again felt new. I forgot so many details already. I once thought this book was epic and after finishing it last night, I can still say that it is.

I really love Rick's writing style. It's so easy to read and follow, I can never notice that I was already half-way through! It's action-packed with so many humorous lines in between that I can't help but laugh. I hope the series would be just as good as the books, if not better!

By the way, if you are interested in joining the readathon, you are all welcome! You can follow Percydathon on Twitter and Instagram for updates!

So guys, ready your stuff, and let's head to Camp Half Blood! I'm excited to meet all of you demigods! I'll be in Cabin 10 (apparently)! 😜
