Renee's Reading Habits

For those who don't know yet, I adore books. I love reading more than I love shopping for new shoes. My friends in high school dubbed me as the bibliophile and that was when I officially embraced being one. Before I started getting serious with this blog, I thought about making this about books and travel. But then, I was caught up with life and I neglected to make book reviews. Maybe one of these days I'd return to writing them and sharing them with you. ðŸ˜Š

Today I am writing a post about my reading habits. This is a tag originally created by Jazz of The Book Jazz on her youtube account and I actually did this back when I was still on Tumblr. I wanted to share it here so I figured I'd make a new post. Here goes...

Reading Habits

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

At home, I own the couch. It is where I lounge and do my reading. Sometimes I read on our veranda or sometimes in my bed at night before I go to sleep.

Do you use a bookmark or a random piece of paper?

I'm a sucker for cute bookmarks! So yeah, the answer to this question is so obvious...

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain amount of pages?

I can stop reading anytime I want. Usually, when I really find the book interesting, I can read it all day long until I finish it, but when I do not dig it, I can just stop. Sometimes I don't pick it up for days, sometimes for weeks. It really depends on the kind of book I'm reading.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

When I am reading a book, I don't eat or drink, but when I'm reading on my kindle, I can do both. I don't want to have stains on my books so as much as possible, I avoid doing these two activities.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

There are times when I read while listening to music but I can never read with the TV on. When I read, I want peace so I can concentrate on every word the author has written. Whenever I listen to music, I choose those that are only instrumental because I can't help but sing along with the singer when I listen to songs. :D

One book at a time or several at once?

I used to read several books at once, one book on my kindle, one book on my phone, and one actual book. But lately, I just find it easy to finish something when I concentrate on reading just one, so that's what I do now.

Reading at home or everywhere?

I READ EVERYWHERE! And that's the great thing about having a kindle, you can always bring it with you because it is very light!

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

I do both :D There are times that I love hearing my voice while I act like the characters in the book and sometimes when scenes are intense, I just read silently in my head and get that scene over with. My attitude in reading really depends on how the book speaks to me, on what it's about, and on how it can affect me.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I do not like to be spoiled. Ever. When I read a book, I start at the beginning and so on. I do not like to read ahead and that is why I always cover the lower part of the book when I'm reading intense scenes so as not to spoil myself from reading the end.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I like to keep my books as good as new so breaking their spines is a no-no. Well, except for my "Wreck this Journal" book that requires me to do so, hehe.

Do you write in your books?

I surprisingly do, sometimes. And just on books that I think are worth writing on. :) I like to underline or highlight quotes so that when I open that certain book again, I can scan my favorite quotes on them.

And that's my take on this book tag. Do you have any reading habits you'd like to share with anyone? What kind of books do you like to read? Let's talk in the comments section below! :D
