Camiguin's White Island

This is an overdue blog entry but I'll push it through because I wanted to share with you, guys, the beauty of Camiguin's White Island. I went there with Jethro earlier this year and if you can recall, I posted our Mantigue Island Adventure months ago.

So, it was our last day in Camiguin and I had a really hard time saying goodbye to the island. The short vacation was coming to an end and I can't do anything about it. But such is life, and we just have to make the most of it.

We started our day early, waking up at 6 AM and getting ready for our White Island trip which was only a boat ride away from where we were staying (Brgy. Yumbing). We rented a boat (I think it was for 550 pesos back-and-forth) to go to the island at 7 AM and the trip last for about 15 mins (or less). When we arrived at the sandbar, we were greeted by a lot of tourists, and of course, the ever-shining sun.

White Island is an uninhabited white sandbar located about 1.4 kilometers off the northern shore of Mambajao in the volcanic island of Camiguin. The island is generally horseshoe shaped, but the tides constantly resize and reshape its exact form. There's no trees or shelter of any kind, and it is composed solely of white sands.

The government didn’t want to destroy the beauty of the pristine island so there were no cottages on site (there was a canteen there, though). We paid 200 pesos for renting a beach umbrella and a mat. And then we had fun under the sun!

I have been really anticipating for this trip to happen because I have heard a lot of good things about it, and my expectations were exceeded! I was extremely happy to experience such a beautiful day at the beach.

We didn't do any extreme activities, though. We just relaxed and lounged on our rented mat under the umbrella, talked about our adventure, swam in the clear waters, and of course, took pictures! A lot of them, if I may add.

We didn't bring any food with us that day, only water so we bought our breakfast at the canteen. Nothing fancy, just your good ol' Lechon Kawali and rice. 😃

The whole experience was really surreal and memorable.

Here are more pictures! 😊

Overall, it was a really great trip and was worth every penny we spent. I'd love to go back here in the future and I hope it will stay as beautiful as it is now.
