Purchasing Your Own Domain

It is every blogger's dream to have their own domain. Am I right? And as you can see, I've got my own just last Wednesday and I am still floating on cloud nine from so much happiness.

I have been planning to buy my own domain ever since I've moved to Blogspot. I told myself to wait for at least 3 months and establish my blog first before getting one. I had my mindset on buying it in the third week of August but I ended buying it the day before yesterday. I was just sifting through my inbox when I noticed an email about a domain registration billing.

Last July 19, I was surfing the internet, searching for probable sites on where I can buy my domain. I've been to several blogs, reading about how and where to purchase them. I was lead to sites such as GoDaddy.com, namecheap.com, 1and1.com, and more. Namecheap and GoDaddy, in particular, have great deals but the problem with these international domain registrars is that they require a credit card or Paypal for you to pay for their products and services. I do not have any of the two yet as of the moment, so I was willing to wait until I can get a cc of my own. Then I discovered Pangalan.com.

Pangalan.com is a local domain vendor that operates under GMO-Z.COM Pte, a subsidiary of GMO Internet Group from Japan. It is the Pinoy counterpart of Japan's leading domain registrar and they sell domains at cheap prices (I've read an article about it here), I was enticed. I scrolled through their website and checked if the domain I wanted was available (which it was) and I tried to register it. I added the domain to my cart and proceeded to checkout. Little did I know was that registration was billed to my account and was available until August 3, 2016. And I happened to check that email that day, talk about coincidence right? Or was it fated?

For me who does not have a credit card yet, Pangalan.com was the answer to my desire. They have a lot of payment options for you to choose from. You can opt to pay through your CC's, your Paypal, through mobile banking, over-the-counter/ATM Banking, via money transfers, or even via G-cash! I was excited when I learned about it, but a little nervous tbh (overthinking again, that's why). I was afraid that something would go wrong with the transaction and my money would go to waste. I thought about it hard for a good hour. I was fidgety until I came to a decision. I was gonna do it. And I did! :D

Paying for the domain was easy. I clicked through the email that Pangalan.com sent me, which contains my registered email address and account password, and I was lead to my account portal where I could see my outstanding balance - it was PHP 550. This domain price is already good for one (1) year. I clicked the Account bar and then Balance and then Make Payment. I was given 2 choices, either pay with CC or Paypal or pay with DragonPay. Now, DragonPay is the payment service used by Pangalan.com where you can choose other modes of payment which I have stated above. I used online banking.

It was the best decision I made because, in just a matter of minutes, they sent me an email confirming my registration was completed. All I have to do next is install it in Blogger and do a little tweaking and voila, I can finally have my own domain! You can get your own domain too, all you have to do is go to Pangalan.com, register the domain name you want, and pay for it!

So guys, I officially welcome you all to www.itsrenalexis.com! Nothing has really changed, though. You can still expect me to post the usual - my random musings, about life, about my travels, about books once in a while, and just everything I can think of under the sun - for at least three times a week. Anything else you would want for me to write about, or if you want to do a collab with me, just comment down below or you can email me at randombibliophile@gmail.com. Ciao for now, guys! Enjoy the blog :)
