Anecdotes 05 | High School Crush

High School
It's been 10 years since I last saw this guy, who would have thought that out of all the places in the world, we would meet again in another country?

Over the years, we had an on and off communication. We were never close when we were still in High School. We were in the same year but we were in different sections and we had a different group of friends. My only memory of interacting with him was when we were paired up in our JS Prom Cotillion and we were barely even talking back then. We just got close after we graduated. I moved to another city and we started out our college lives.

When Facebook became popular, it's messaging feature was what rekindled our communication. He would just suddenly send me a message out of the blue and I'd always reply. I remember having skype calls with him last 2013 and well, let's just say that even if the communication between us was not consistent, whenever he chats me up, I would always reply to him and we'd have long conversations catching up with each other's lives until we don't know what to say anymore.

We had made countless plans to meet again but over the last 10 years, we never got to. That's why when he told me that he would be in Dubai for a night and he'd like to meet up, I never got my hopes up because I had doubts that maybe it wouldn't happen like all the other plans we made in the past. But it did happen and yesterday, we really got to see each other in the flesh after ten long years.

It was a short reunion but it was something I will never forget. Fare weather on your voyages, seafarer. I will be praying to see you again next time. 😘
