June Wrap Up

It's that time of the month again where you reminisce through the past weeks and contemplate on what things made this month blog-worthy. June has been mundane to me as nothing exciting happened. But even though I was stuck at work for the whole month, I didn't fail to have a little fun *funny dances*. I've gathered the best things I have read/bought/experienced this month and here they are:

~ The Throne of Glass Series
These books are amazing and I am not exaggerating! Sarah J. Maas has to be a genius to be able to come up with such a concept! I just finished book four this morning and I am blown away. I can't say enough words to actually describe my feelings for this series. I love it. How can I not? With a major badass protagonist who might I add, is a girl, a couple of drool-worthy guys who are always there for the damsel who is never in distress, a world of magic that is somehow so messed up, an antagonist you'll be gradually hating as the book progresses, and a completely new plot that captivates its audience starting from page one - who cannot love this book? I am just utterly in awe.

List of books in this series:
The Assasin's Blade (Books #0.1 - 0.5)
Throne of Glass (Book #1)
Heir of Fire (Book #3)
Queen of Shadows (Book #4)
Empire of  Storms (Book #5 - to be released in September 2016)

Update on my Goodreads Reading Challenge:
31 out of 45 books! (Not bad, not bad at all!)

~ Bethany of curlyandwordy.co.uk
I became a religious reader of Bethany's writings when I first read her post about sex. It was an eye-opening article and it gave me a different perspective on the subject. I just love how she writes. Her style is something I wish I could do myself, but alas, I lack the funny and witty side that goes with it. Curly and wordy is definitely on point in describing her.

~ Richel of richelgoes.com
Richel's blog is something I aspire on what my blog would be in the future. I like that she blogs about her travel and some other stuff she cares about in her life. It's really enjoyable to read along, I learn things from her and that is what I want my blog to be for others.

I am all about lip products these days and some of my favorites are listed below:

~ Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks
I own three shades of this brand but the Vivid Violet and Toast of New York are my favorite. These lippies are so affordable and very well pigmented. They don't feel heavy when you apply them and they last the whole day (well, that's if you don't eat, haha)!

~ Kissproof Lippies
This lipstick brand is famous all over Instagram shops and I was just dying to own some. It's a matte pen lipstick and I've heard really good reviews about them. I ordered three shades and I cannot wait to receive them!

~ The Famous Kylie Lip kit
Now here's a brand that everyone knows about. Sadly, I still don't own one because it is much too pricey. Here in the PH, shops sell them at 2500 pesos per lip kit and I just cannot spend that kind of money. IT'S INSANE to pay such amount for one lipstick, in my opinion. I wish I live in the US so that I can only pay $29 for one kit. So to satisfy my curiosity for these famous liquid lipsticks, I resolved to buy dupes instead. Singaporean made KLK are everywhere and I decided to buy one just to see if I like it. I know, knock-offs suck but I don't really have a choice here, I'm poor AF. 😭

~ Beauty Masks
And lastly, I love beauty masks. I don't particularly have a favorite brand but the last mask I tried was Etude House's I Need You, Olive! Mask Sheet and it was divine! I like its subtle fragrance and it deeply moisturizes so my face thanks me a lot for this food. I usually go natural by putting on honey on my face to moisturize it but there's nothing wrong with putting artificial once in a while. 😉

Last June 11 when I opened my twitter, I was completely shocked when I saw #PrayforChristina was trending. And it didn't just shook me but the entire world altogether when it was announced that the singer was shot four times and was in critical condition. Hours after, a statement was released that she died. I didn't know her personally but I followed her journey from her Youtube days and then after her The Voice days. I cried. I cried for her family's loss, I cried on the cause of her death, I cried for her best friend who continuously posts pictures of her on Instagram. Reality hit me hard. Death was all upon us and we do not have the luxury to choose when to leave this world. Christina was a fireball and did not deserve that untimely death. It's hard for me but I know it's harder for her mom who would grieve the fact that she outlived her daughter. It was a shocking turn of events but in the end, we have to accept what happened no matter how hard it is. You will never be forgotten, Christina, at least not to me.

This issue struck me so hard this month that I actually posted a separate blog about it. Click this if you want to read it.

Now here's an issue that enraged me to my core. If you haven't any idea who Brock Turner is and what he did, you can read a very angry post about it HERE. I won't be saying much more about this subject because Richel had already said everything on my behalf, haha.

I would have included Brexit in this post but I don't know all the details about it. I need to have more time to watch and read the relevant news, even if it's not about my country.

And that's my June wrap up! All the relevant/irrelevant stuff that happened and came across to me. It has been a great month despite all the negative things, and my blog growth amazes me each day. I can't wait for more months to come and spend more time to improve it. What are your monthly favorites? Have you had a great month? Because I know I did! ^_^

  5. Sounds like a pretty full month to me! Matte lipsticks are maybe the coolest thing ever, although any I've heard of make your lips really dry! My month was pretty interesting. I got my first ever proper job (hah I'm almost 18 and only ever had one job) which took up most of it and then I got to chill. I also spent a good bit of time with friends which was nice! x

    1. Yes, some matte products make your lips dry but there are some brands that have matte lipsticks with creamy formula so it doesn't totally dry them out. :) Congratulations on your job and welcome to the "real" world!

  7. I love this pooost. So informative!! I haven't got my hands on Kylie's lip products as well but I don't really mind. There's a lot of cheaper options that does the same job. Haha. I'm loving NYX lingerie right now :) I'm so glad I found your blog, Renee :)

    1. Yesterday, my best friend told me that the maker of Colourpop lipsticks is the same as the maker of the KLK. Now, I am saving up to splurge on another lipstick haul, haha! I've purchased one NYX lingerie and I'm still waiting for it to arrive, I'm excited to try it! :D

Thank you and likewise Chriz! I really like your blog, too. ^_^

  8. I remember the time when I read a single book in a day. I miss those days! Now I feel like I'm never going to get back to that because I feel like I've read all the good books out there. (lol) My standards were set pretty high. *sigh Kissproof lippies are the bomb, they look sexy but can be very drying on the lips. Huhu

  11. I'm still not over Christina's death. I love listening to bands and artists and going to their shows. I love talking with fellow fans who are total strangers while waiting in line to meet my favorite bands. I consider that atmosphere at home. To hear what happened to Christina just devastated me. That was her home, too. And someone just.. shot her. It's something that definitely highlights the evil in the world, but I'll refuse to let that scare me because Christina was just a ball of positivity and life.

Thank you for putting me in your blog favorites!! I seriously feel honored. <3

    1. It was truly unexpected, we've lost a great artist who was just starting to be recognized. It's a terrible tragedy and my heart goes to her friends and family.

You are very welcome Rich :) Stay awesome!
