Renee Reviews: Althea Korea's Dis a Pore Box

Althea Korea's Dis a Pore Box

Last month, around the 2nd week of April, I received an email from one of Althea Korea's representative requesting my honest review on each product of their latest trendy box, the Dis a Pore Box. Being an avid fan of this shopping website, I was like "Free products from my favorite online store??? HECK YES!". I obliged and not more than two weeks later, I received the said box on my doorstep. I was ecstatic! I quickly did an unboxing and was amazed at what I saw inside.

(If you don't know yet, Althea.kr has been curating products into themed boxes which you can buy without having to subscribe to any monthly subscription. This is my 4th Althea Box btw and I'm super happy that I have the chance to try these products out!)

Althea Korea's Dis a Pore Box

The Dis a Pore box contains six (6) different products that claim to help you conceal and take care of your pores.

  1. Torriden Banchic Spa Pads
  2. Caolion Premium Pore White Cake Pack
  3. Etude House Fix and Fix Pore Primer
  4. Innisfree No Sebum x Emoji Mineral Powder
  5. Torriden Banchic Oil Control Powder Mist
  6. Mi by K TU Mask Pack

So without making this introduction any longer, here are my honest thoughts about each product after trying them. 😊

1. TORRIDEN BANCHIC SPA PADS
Torriden Banchic Spa Pads

This is my first time hearing about this brand so I'm really excited to test it out. This box contains 10 pads inside and it claims to remove makeup and pore wastes, dead skin cells, blackheads and absorb sebum. It also increases skin moisture after use and balances out the skin pH.

This product's main components are charcoal powder and peat water. The charcoal powder removes dead skin cells and excessive sebum with its outstanding waste absorption, while the peat water (a natural component) is a great pore care ingredient as it absorbs wastes and provides nourishment and skin elasticity.

Thoughts: Using this product was messy, at least that's the thing for me. The smell is another thing, it's not that unpleasant and I'm not that fond of it, but it's tolerable. What I liked about it though is the effect it gives my face after I wash it off. After massaging my face with the pad, I rinse the damp charcoal powder with water and pat my face dry. I instantly noticed how my skin was smooth and soft. I do this as the first step in my night routine and only use this 2 to 3 times a week.

Repurchase? I don't think I would because there are other products I would like to try out, hehe.

2. CAOLION PREMIUM PORE WHITE CAKE PACK
Caolion Premium White Pore Cake Pack

I've seen this brand circulating around Althea for a while now and I didn't really put much thought about purchasing it as I have other masks in my closet that I have yet to finish. But as it comes inside the box, I am more than happy to try it out.

This product is a thick cream type that includes a brightening component, niacinamide for skin tone up, and adenosine components for cooling effect to tighten pores. It also contains sticky rice, dried orange peel, buckwheat, and grain powders that remove the dead skin cells for instant smooth and brightened skin.

Thoughts: I like it, most especially the cooling effect it gives my face right after I apply it. I leave it on for 10-15 minutes as instructed and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. I don't see any drastic changes right after but it definitely feels nice, as for the brightening effects it claims to have, I am yet waiting to see it. The smell is okay, too, it has a fresh, minty scent that's not too overpowering. So far, I've used it twice already and it didn't break me out so kudos to that!

Repurchase? Maybe, but not so soon because as I have said, I have a lot of other masks in my closet, haha!

3. ETUDE HOUSE FIX AND FIX PORE PRIMER
Etude House Fix and Fix Pore Primer

Next item we have is this primer from Etude House. This was the first thing that caught my attention as I wasn't expecting it to be this big (it comes in a 25g tube). I was planning to buy a primer in another brand for some time now but I was hesitating what to really get. So when this product was included in the box, I was so happy to finally own a primer, haha! With its size, I think I wouldn't be buying another one anytime soon.

This product claims to hold excessive sebum and fits on the skin's pH balance for smooth and neat skin texture. It's a skin tone gel type primer that effectively covers pores and uneven skin texture, makes skin texture look smooth, and keeps makeup fresh for long hours. It includes tea tree leaf oil, moringa oil, and green tea seed oil for thin and soft adherence to skin without being dried. It also includes sebum absorbing powder to catch abundant sebum and helpful for skin pH balance.

Thoughts: What I love about this product is its smooth and powdery finish. It has a creamy consistency that makes it very easy to apply and it has a subtle scent (I don't know how to describe it, haha) that I really like. But, even though it covers the pores, it does little work over the tiny bumps. But maybe that's just because I need to apply more product? Hmmm...

Repurchase? Maybe but I want to try other brands as well.

4. INNISFREE NO SEBUM X EMOJI MINERAL POWDER
Innisfree No Sebum x Emoji Mineral Powder

This cute emoji is a force to be reckoned with. In collaboration with Innisfree, they made limited editions of these cuties containing the cult favorite no sebum mineral powder.

This product boasts these three things:
  1. Sebum control powder that allows for non-greasy, downy baby skin
Sebum absorption powder and mineral sebum control powder absorb excess sebum for a bright, downy skin as if presently putting on makeup.
  2. Jeju natural minerals and mint for refreshing control of oil and moisture
Sebum absorption powder with Jeju natural minerals and mint restores an unhealthy balance of oil and moisture, leaving a refreshing finish.
  3. Absorbing excess sebum and oil for downy makeup and an even skin tone
Absorbs excess sebum and oil to prevent makeup from becoming patchy, while correcting dull skin tone to keep the skin bright and radiant all day.

Thoughts: I love Innisfree products and this one did not disappoint, moreover it exceeded my expectations. I've been wanting to get the original version of this so I was really ecstatic that this limited edition is included in the box. I love it so much as it does all the things it claims to do! The only thing I could comment on it, though, is that it only comes in a 5-gram container. Kinda expensive for its product amount but given that you only need a little product for application, it would go a long way if I just really thriftily apply it, haha!

Repurchase? A big YES!

5. TORRIDEN BANCHIC OIL CONTROL POWDER MIST
Torriden Banchic Oil Control Powder Mist

Here is another product from Torriden included in the box - a mist that claims to soothe the pores and skin by controlling excessive sebum. I haven't heard of a product like this before because usually, mists are for moisturizing, so the concept behind this small bottle is new to me.

The instruction says to shake the bottle well before spraying it directly to your (oily) face. I did this when I first opened the box and I WAS AMAZED. I am not overreacting when I say that it mattified my oily face a few seconds after I sprayed it on. It works so well, it is one of my holy grail now! (And I don't declare a product my holy grail that easily) This is seriously THE BOMB.

And aside from using it on the face, you can also use it for your oily hair, but I don't do this because I don't have oily hair, hehe.

Thoughts: This is my favorite product in this box, alongside with the Innisfree x emoji no sebum mineral powder! BEST PRODUCT IN THIS BOX ever. No cons, whatsoever 😁 If you have an oily face, trust me, this product is for you!

Repurchase? YES YES YES! ☝

6. MI BY K TU MASK PACK
Mi by K TU Mask Pack

The last item in the box is this 2 piece sheet mask from Mi by K. It has 2 parts, the T-zone Charcoal Mask which is for soothing and calming the sensitive and oily t-zone, and the U-zone Mask which is for vitalizing. The U-zone Mask is packed with vitamins and salmon eggs extract that cares for the sagging and dry u-zone.

Thoughts: I had fun trying this product out and I must say that I want more of it. I love its effect, the masks were perfectly moistened and there were extra essences to pat on the neck and other areas (like my elbows and knees, hehe). I also like how it perfectly fits my face and the scent also is subtle, which is great. My face was super moisturized and refreshed after I took the mask off.

Repurchase? Yes, where can I buy one???

The contents of this box totals for about ₱4,694 but it only retails for ₱1,269 on Althea Korea. Such a steal right??? Unfortunately, the Dis A Pore box is now sold out. So, I think that's it for now. I hope you had fun reading through this (long) post. I have been in and out of the blogging world for quite a while now and I'm happy to have something to share with you again.
