Millennial Problems

By now, it's highly unlikely if you still haven't heard or encountered the term "Millennial". But if you're one of those people, then here:

Mil·len·nial /miˈlenēəl/ noun
  1. A person reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century

So basically, millennials are us, also known as Generation Y or the Net Generation. We are those who grew up in an electronics-filled and increasingly online and socially-networked world. We are deemed to be entitled and narcissistic. We are seen as lazy, as happy-go-lucky, but we also tend to be confident having been raised under the mantra "follow your dreams". I won't go into specific details anymore but if you want to read more about how they describe millennials, check this article.

Ever since I've lived with my best friend, she and I have been nonstop including "millennial problems" in our daily conversations whenever we encounter things that we deem as unnecessary "trouble" of today's generation. We have this inside joke and we can't stop laughing as we make fun of the most irrelevant things we can think of. We even joked about writing a book about it, haha! Tell us if writing a book is a good move...

  • Ang hina ng internet, I can't upload my IG story!
  • Ayoko dito kumain, ang pangit ng lighting.
  • Low battery... No power bank in hand... No charger and socket, too... 😡
  • No signal, no life!
  • Gurl, dun tayo sa (name of resto) kumain, ang instagrammable ng food nila!
  • *Looks for wide windows when entering a food establishment.*
  • At a hotel: *Looks for a socket near the bed but finds none* (cries inside)
  • *Uploads photo on Instagram. Does not suit feed. Deletes photo. Get stressed.*
  • Bes, dali malapit na mawala ang sunset. Picture na tayo. #goldenhour
  • Sa (name of coffee shop) tayo tumambay, malakas wifi nila dun.
  • All public buses should have free wifi...
  • When Instagram breaks and you just stare at your phone as the world stands still... *kroo kroo*
  • Stuck in traffic, phone's dead. WHAT TO DO
  • Wait, this angle nalang para mas payat tingnan!
  • Doon ka tumayo besh, sige dun pa, dapat matangkad ako tingnan sa photo.
  • I don't want to work, I just want to travel!
  • Wag mo ko itag sa Facebook ha, nakaSL ako.
  • Hindi pa nangangalahati ang taon, ubos na VL ko
  • Large smartphones pet peeve: When lying in bed scrolling down on various social media feed and then suddenly your phone slips out of your hand and falls on your face.
  • *Tweets something with a typo. Get stressed.* 😠😠😠
  • When you have 5GB of mobile data and still manage to exceed it.
  • Scrolling so much your pinky finger goes numb from holding your phone up for so long.
  • *Searches for more popular hashtags for Instagram*
  • *Food arrives at our table. Babe is ready to dive in. You stop him. You arrange the food for foodstagram. One hour later.* Okay, we can eat na :). *Babe gives you judging look.*
  • My gosh, I cannot take this heat. I need aircon.
  • OMG, we're traveling soon, what to wear??? *faces closet full of clothes*
  • *humblebrags* #blessedt 😂
  • How to sort out 1234789874 photos on my phone?
  • Too bored to do nothing, too tired to actually do something...

These are just some of the "millennial problems" we've accumulated and thought of through time. Do you find anything in the list above that you can relate to? If yes, then you're obvsly a millennial. 😂 I'm sorry if my non-Filipino readers won't understand some of these scenarios, I decided not to translate them because I think if I would, the humor would be lost.

Don't take this post too seriously, it is purely just for fun so I hope nobody gets offended. 😉 I, too, relate to most of the things I listed above and that is actually why my best friend dubbed me as a "millennial". I didn't get angry, in fact, I embraced being one because I am one!

Do you have more of these so-called "millennial problems"? I'd love to hear them 😁 Let's talk in the comments section below. 👇👇👇 Till then!
