Let me start by saying that this is the sickest, most troubling book I've read this year. It's not the thickest book so I finished it after 2 or 3 sittings. It started out quite interesting and very mysterious. The author introduced the main character in bits and pieces in every chapter that sometimes, it was confusing.

The story was told backward. It started with the present day and traversed back to how the happenings began. The chapters were compelling enough to make you read through it as it had vital things you needed to know why and how things happened in the previous chapters. The story unfolded slowly that it somehow became boring in the middle of the book. I wanted to just get over with the story.

This book is not a great read, just a good one. And what made me think like that is because there are some elements in the book that didn't quite sit well with me. An example is using the words "hetero" and "action" one too many times that when I read it again in another chapter, I just can't help but roll my eyes. 😣 Another thing is that while I dig the psycho, thriller feel of this novel, I think the author has just used too many metaphors that it just made the whole book a bit of a drag. Maybe I was just disappointed about this one as I expected too much from it because I liked We Were Liars.

Overall, it was okay. A short read to pass the time away. It had the perfect amount of thrill and in the end, my thought when I read the last sentence of this book was, "I hope there was no real-life Jule West Williams." 😅
