Anecdotes 07 | ABBA

My father is a huge music lover and I have always looked up to him when it comes to beautiful songs. My papa taught me to appreciate music and well-written songs. Growing up, I remember always having music in the background. We wake up on Sunday mornings with the radio blasting up to tunes that were popular at that time. My dad used to make a lot of mixtapes back when the cassette was still in style. I remember hearing a lot of Fra Lippo Lippi, Air Supply, Bee Gees, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Michael Learns to Rock, Abba, and so many others I cannot name anymore. My dad had a collection of CDs of great artists and the most memorable album for me was the Abba Gold: Greatest hits which I got as a hand-me-down.

I was given a Walkman and that has been my most prized possession when I was in high school. I used to play the ABBA Gold Album non-stop up until the songs in that album had become my anthem when I was overcoming my heartbreak from puppy love. *Sigh* Thinking about it now just makes me nostalgic. I even remember making a dance out of "Mamma Mia" for our Senior Ball because the theme was the 70's and I just couldn't help but feel like it was meant to be. I helped choreographed our dance and I was so happy about it.

My love for ABBA did not stop there because until now, I still listen to them now and then. When the movies Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again came out, my dad and I went crazy. I think we've watched the first movie three or four times already. I loved how they revived the songs. I love how I was introduced to more ABBA songs that I haven't heard yet before watching the movies. This group is just golden, in my opinion, and their songs are timeless.

I admire this band so much and that's just the beauty of music, isn't it? That even if they were released way, way back when you weren't born yet, when they are good, they are good no matter what year they were released.
