A Little Tour of My Work Space

A Little Tour of My Work Space

Hello, everybody! Happy New Year!  I hope your new year's celebration was fun, I know mine was. 😁 To start with, I decided to skip writing a personal blog post like I've been doing in the past 4 years because I don't feel mushy right now. I don't feel like this new year is "new" because everything is still kind of the same. Having said that, I didn't want to start my blog this year with a melancholic entry and so I decided to finally share my desk space!

When I got home last September, my first project was to re-vamp our room and create a safe space where I can do my thing, that is blogging, working, writing, reading, and just about everything. Basically my own workspace. Here's video 1video 2, and video 3 of our room makeover.

We started with repainting the walls from pink to white because I wanted the room to look bright. The pink was just too dark, hot, and heavy for my liking. I got my table from Shopee and I chose this one that has a bookshelf so that I can store my favorite books in my room. I also bought a book cart so that my other books will have a home and not long after, I bought an office chair so that I will be more comfortable when I'm working.

For a few months, the wall in front of my desk was blank. I painted some pictures using my sister's watercolor to have something temporary on the wall. I was originally planning to install more bookshelves because I still have some books that don't have a home. Then one day, I received an email from a brand. At first, I was hesitant because I felt that it was too good to be true. After all, I'm just a small-time blogger, I don't think I even have a hundred readers.

Photowall was so kind to offer me to have one of their products and I got this calmingly mesmerizing canvas print called Ultramarine Sea and Sky. Now, my wall isn't bare and I am so grateful for their generosity. I was ecstatic when this package arrived just a few days before Christmas, it was perfect timing!

I love this print, it just complements my room and completes the whole look of my desk. And what I love most about it is that whenever I'm feeling tired at staring at my laptop screen for a long time, I look up and I am calmed by its hues of blues. I've always wanted to create a painting and this one inspires me to really push through with that goal.

Just a little overview if you haven't heard about Photowall yet. They are a Swedish wall-art company passionate about creating inspiring living spaces with personality. They offer wallpapers with unique designs, canvas prints (like the one I got), framed prints, and posters. Judging from this canvas print I got, I can say that their products are very premium.

If you are planning to redecorate or revamp your space and you are looking for a unique wall piece to spice up the look and feel of your home, I do highly recommend browsing through Photowall. They have thousands of designs that you can choose from, you can even have your own personalized products if you want to. If you do decide to make a purchase from them, I am happy to share a 25% discount code! Just put the code renalexis25 at checkout and you'll get 25% off from any product of your choosing. Just hurry up though, because this code is only valid for a month from today! 😁

Anyway, I am still planning to put up bookshelves adjacent to the canvas print because this area still looks blank. And I have a couple BTS merch coming so I was planning to put them on display on those shelves, too. (Yes, I really found a way to insert BTS here 😂

I've been looking at Pinterest for inspiration and I already have some ideas. I hope I can have those bookshelves up by next month. Here's a closer look at my desk.

Anatomy of Renee's Desk Space

The pink keyboard and mouse is the newest addition to my workspace. I originally have wired ones but I found them a little hassle whenever I want to work outside. I'd have to detach them and lug them outside and then re-plug them to my laptop and maybe it's not a matter of nuisance for others but I find it annoying. I loved that keyboard though. But I really wanted to have a wireless one so I got this.

Renee's Workspace Details

To the left, besides my laptop, is where I've placed my colognes, skincare, and makeup products. I've also placed my bullet journals at the top shelves for easy access. Most times, I place my DIY bulletin board up those books because I only place it at the top of my JBL Bluetooth speaker. When I find the time, I will mount this board on the wall so I won't have to move it back and forth.

Also, if you are wondering why I've placed hardbound books at the top making the shelf bend, the answer is because these books make me smile whenever I look at them. I am such a big fan of Sarah J. Maas books and for years, I have been dreaming of owning her books which are my all-time favorite. My Throne of Glass books are almost complete, I'm only lacking books 2 and 3, but I'm putting them on display because seeing them just makes me happy. I can't wait to read these books again!

The third and fourth shelves below the desk contain more books, as well as the orange thingy you see peeking below the chair. I'm thinking of selling some of the books I have already read to free some space. You can go to my book unhaul Instagram - @prelovedrary - to see the books I'm unhauling.

I spend most of my day in this little workspace and I love it. My favorite part of my desk would be my SJMaas books. I'm just so happy I own them. 😅 Having a separate workspace than just working on my bed was really a step I needed to take. It made me more productive, more inspired, and more motivated to work. After months of adding up little pieces to complete this whole look is so satisfying. I wish I took a before photo so I could show you how much this space had changed.

Anyway, I think this post is already long enough. I've been blabbering about again, hehe. Well, I'll end it now. If you have any questions or comments, you can talk to me in the comments section below. 😊 Till my next post! xx
