The electricity died and the neighborhood was silenced as the darkness invaded. Everyone in the house hurriedly searched for candles to bring about light. When everything was visible again, we went outside to have fresh air. You grabbed the guitar as you always did when there's a blackout, strummed the strings a few times, and tuned the instrument. When you think the guitar was well-tuned, you began playing your favorite songs. I remember there's always a few Bisaya classics in these moments. You sing Magellan to us and I always have so much fun listening to you as you recite out all the lyrics perfectly. You include Si Pilemon and Dandansuy in your setlist and there we were, singing along to your old tunes. 

I learned these songs and sang them to my younger twin siblings years ago when they were babies when I used to put them to sleep. My strong love for music was because of you. My eyes were opened to the beauty of songs because you always turn the radio up every morning, especially on Sundays.

These memories just resurfaced a while ago and I realized how much I miss you, pa. See you soon! xx
