The dress code was formal and the juniors were to wear pink. I have been anticipating prom for years since I've watched movies about it. When I was finally in my third year in high school, I was ecstatic because finally, the moment has come.
Come January and the excitement among my peers was palpable. I was excited to dress up. The girly girl in me was wide awake and was looking forward to the glam, the lights, the gowns, and the party. I remember I wore a bedazzled black and pink number and my shoes were silver and white.
The highlight of my prom started deep into the party when dinner was over and everyone started dancing. The dance party started with fast, upbeat music that got everyone up on their feet. And then, as we went deeper into the night, the music transitioned into the slow, mellow ones that compelled lovers to grace the dance floor.
My friends and I were jamming along to the music. You know, where a group of friends just danced without care no matter what the music is. We were having so much fun doing funny moves and just plainly being crazy. Until someone I least expected approached our group.
It was as if I was transported into my own movie when my high school first love asked me to dance, and just like it was all cued, Bubbly by Colbie Caillat played. Butterflies filled my tummy as we spent a couple moments holding hands and dancing together. The song was over too soon and it left me wanting more.
The memories have become hazy now and I can't remember all of the details. But whenever I hear Bubbly play, this memory comes to me in flashbacks. High School was a great time and I will always wish to be able to relive those simple times, to be able to replay and watch those memorable moments pass by. xx
