This post is a bit late but I just thought I'd publish a life update here since it's been a few weeks since my last entry. How are you guys? How was your April? And how's May coming along? I hope you are all healthy and happy. 😊
As I look back, I just realized that last month has been eventful. A lot of things happened and I'll be talking about them all here. Let's go.
Lola's 84th Birthday
We celebrated our grandma's birthday last April 4th and it was fun to have some of our relatives over. It was an intimate gathering so don't worry, we were all safe. The food was great and I played with my niece the whole time.
Getting into Watercolor Painting
When I was younger, I loved drawing and painting. When I stepped into college, I left that hobby behind to focus on my studies and my other hobby which is reading. When I was done with university, I got back into art. I bought a bunch of colored pencils, paint, paintbrushes, and coloring books. I went back to my "creative" self for a little while until I had to leave them again the second time to got to work and adult. Now that I'm back home and freelancing, I thought a lot about getting back to making art and just brushing up on my lost skills. It was bittersweet to finally get back to holding my colored pencils and paintbrushes because it felt foreign and similar at the same time. Although I never really stopped doodling because I keep a bullet journal that's somewhat creative, drawing and painting were kinda different and I had to develop these skills again. I'm not a gifted artist, I'm not talented or anything. I just really liked creating something and getting back to making art is something that gave me immense joy last month. I hope I can continue with this. 😊
Taylor's New Fearless Album was Released
I had a whole post about this but I'll just mention it again here, hehe.
BANGBANGCON 2021
Being a baby Army who just got into BTS late last year, this was my first BTS event. Bangbangcon is a live stream of three BTS concerts on YouTube. It started around 2 PM and ended around 10 PM and it was such a fun experience! I really made a big deal out of it and kinda went crazy. I wore my Chimmy shirt and hairband and carried my lightstick all throughout the concerts. I sang along, danced a little bit in front of the TV screen, live-tweeted with fellow Armys, and oh, I screamed and squealed a lot, too. My family laughed at me and looked at me like I'm some weirdo but I didn't mind them because, at that time, I was just fully immersed in the Bangtan Universe. Nothing came between my love for these boys and oh my gosh, it was just so much fun. I hope COVID will go away, will be vanquished, will be gone soon so that I can attend their concert! *screams*
Chopped Off My Long Hair
It's summer and it's hot so it was the perfect time to snip-snip-snip my hair off. I'm not the type of person who is attached to their hair because I know it will grow again. So last month, My mom, my little sister, and I went to our relative's house to get our hair done. Living in a small town where almost all of the people around us are just relatives and who know how to cut hair and manicure/pedicure can be very convenient because we wouldn't have to go to the city to get our hair cut, you know?
And I love my hair. My head definitely feels a lot lighter and I don't have to wait for a long time to let it dry after taking a bath. AND I look younger. 😂 (Say yes, please)
Joined Another Readathon
Yes, this is going to be mentioned again because as I've said in my post about joining the Armydathon, I rarely participate in these even though being in the book community for years. I was so excited for the event to start because the prompts were great and I've picked some really interesting books. Currently, I am on my fourth book for the prompt, Shadow, and so far, all the books I've read for this readathon were great. My favorite so far is The Bone Witch and I cannot wait to read its second book.
The Single Millennial
I really saved the best for last. Uhm, if you haven't yet noticed, there's a new link on my navigation bar that says "podcast". And yes, I have made one. *cue in music* I was really hesitant to share it. I didn't share it anywhere on my socials, except maybe on Twitter once, but you couldn't really catch up on that given that I am the most talkative there. LOL. I found a new way to document my thoughts (yet again) and I find podcasts very entertaining. It's like listening to the radio and you can do it while you are cooking or drawing or painting or something.
Aside from this blog, I tried so hard to document things by vlogging but that didn't really work out. I am so ashamed of myself that I can't really stick with what I started on YouTube. Making vlogs is just not for me. Really. I've been in denial but I have now accepted that I can't, for the life of me, be consistent with making videos for YouTube. I know I said on one of my previous blogs that I was gonna be making book-related videos but being in front of the camera is intimidating and editing videos are so time-consuming and I'm just really super lazy to do them. Making a podcast is different. I don't have to worry about how I look because I wouldn't be in front of a camera. I only have to talk, and even though I'm not the greatest speaker, having this podcast is really just me practicing my speaking skills.
So yeah, I have a podcast. I've been wanting to make one for some time and finally, I did. I hope I'll keep this up and not abandon it just like I did with my YouTube. If you have any suggestions on what topics I can talk about, I am all ears. 😊
I'll be ending this blog here. It's been too long. May is going to be great. BTS's comeback is in less than two weeks and I am so excited, my baby Army heart is trembling. This is my first comeback and I am very much anticipating what these boys have up their sleeves. Teasers have been dropped and more will come in the coming days. I just can't-
