May Reading Wrap Up | ARMYdathon 2021

Hi! Happy June! I hope you're doing fine wherever you are on this Earth.

May has been a really great reading month for me as I have finished nine (9) books! I've joined in a readathon called ARMYDATHON and it has really motivated me to pick up and finish the TBR books I've set for it. I almost didn't finish it on time but I found a loophole (😂) so I am happy to announce that I completed the readathon on time and collected the badges!

Here's the list of books I've read for the month of May:

  1. The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  2. Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  3. Lock Every Door by Riley Salinger - ⭐⭐⭐
  4. I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  5. The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso - ⭐⭐⭐
  6. You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  7. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  8. Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  9. I'll Be The One by Lyla Lee - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Out of the nine books I read last month, I gave four of those a five-star rating because I highly enjoyed reading them. My favorite reads among all the books would have to be The Bone Witch and The Midnight Library. I cannot choose one between these two because they are just SO good. I even featured them in my podcast! If you want to hear my thoughts about why I loved these books, you can listen to them here:

The only book not included in the readathon is You Should See Me In A Crown and it's a debut novel by Leah Johnson. I found its audiobook on Spotify and I just started listening to it. The next thing I knew, I'm in the middle of the book and was immersed in Liz's story. It's a light and fun audiobook to listen to and I really enjoyed it because the narration was fun. Enough said - I finished it in 2 days. 😊

In the middle of last month, I was stuck when I read The Wolf of Oren-Yaro (my fifth book for the ARMYdathon). I was excited to read this because it's an epic fantasy and it's written by a Filipino. I think I placed my expectations too high and it fell short because I found the book boring. It's a trilogy and I just hope that book two will be better, although I wouldn't be picking that up soon.

Anyway, I managed to finish the readathon on time with only hours to spare and I collected the badges because I finished all the prompts with different books for each.

I look forward to next year's ARMYdathon, I hope the prompts will be just as good! Huge thanks to Kat of HerBookishSide for hosting this month-long event because it really made me prioritize reading.

How was your May? What kept you busy? Did you also read? What gems have you discovered? Let's talk in the comments section below! xx
